We have successfully implemented Secure Socket Layer (SSL) in our main web site and online store.
Encrypted web pages are marked with a padlock icon with ‘https’ as part of the web site address (see inset image).
The traditional implementation of SSL is to use it only on web pages used for entering passwords or credit card information, keeping everything else non-secure. But beginning 2017, most web browsers (Chrome, Edge, Mozilla, Safari, etc) flag non-secure web pages regardless of content. From the perspective of the browsers, non-secure web pages are less trustworthy, hence users should be careful in accessing them. Browsers warn users that sensitive data could be stolen from non-secure web sites. Google News, YouTube and even Wikipedia, all of which are not traditional use cases of SSL (because no commercial transactions are made on these web sites anyway) have switched using SSL on all web pages. So as you can see, the trend is to use SSL on web sites non-selectively.
There is even more pressure on e-commerce web site owners to start implementing SSL nowadays. Committed to safeguard your data, we as an e-commerce company have responded to such call. All our web pages have now switched to full encryption, not only on web pages used for entering passwords and financial information but all web pages, hence there is no likelihood of somebody eavesdropping over your data. Whether you are merely browsing our web page or actually purchasing from our store, your data travel in the internet super highway in encrypted form.
It is important for us to respond to customer inquiries or support requests in a timely manner. Hence we have decided to implement the rytParts Support Center. It is basically a ticketing system which allows us to manage support requests more efficiently. As soon as new inquiries or support requests come in which we receive on email, the system assigns a unique ID for it and notifies us on email. We then look into each ticket and respond to it. We receive quite a number of support requests or inquiries in a day, so without a ticketing system, emails would tend to get lost or remain unanswered. With the Support Center now in place, we are in a better position to respond to support requests or inquiries in a timely manner. To access the Support Center page, please click on the Contact Us page at the bottom part of our website.
We have just completed doing a makeover of our website. Our old website was developed using Drupal. The steep learning curve of Drupal was the main reason the project took so long to complete. In the course of doing the project, we realized that there is enormous amount of work if we continue to use Drupal hence we abandoned the project. Not the fault of Drupal though, because Drupal is like the Swiss Army knife of CMS platforms. It is one of the best CMS platforms out there. It is just that we did not have enough time to learn and master it. We are mainly e-commerce sellers by day and web developer by night. So basing on our profile, we realized that we are the wrong type of users of Drupal as we are far from being considered professional website developers.
Our new website (which is the website you are viewing now) is developed using WordPress. It is easier to manage and from our initial experience with it, we think we will stick with it. Our website and online store are both developed in-house not only to save on cost but mainly because it is fun to do it yourself. Our goal is to make our website simple yet functional for our customers. WordPress is suitable for casual web site owners/developers like us having can-do-it attitude.
As was the original goal, our website serves as a landing page for our customers who would like to know more about our business and as a tool for our customers to connect with us.
